We grow more corn and beans than any other county in Minnesota.  But did you know that over 550 firms call Renville County home?  They range from kaolin mining in the Minnesota River Valley to manufacturers to tourist-related retail in the scenic Minnesota River Valley. 

What does Renville County have to offer that makes it such a good place for these businesses to call home?

We have a long history of partnership with business.  As early hosts to value-added agricultural cooperatives, community residents view keeping the local economy strong as everyone's responsibility. 

The city of Renville is known as the "Co-op Capital", home to several large value-added industries.  Olivia is home to several major seed companies, and Buffalo Lakes home to ethanol producer, Minnesota Energy. 

Job development in the county is supported in the traditional ways - the creation of industrial parks, assistance in locating capital and the development of infrastructure.  But Renville County also goes the extra mile.  Some of the ways that the county works to create a strong environment for businesses are:

• Working cooperatively with other communities along highway 212 to ensure that the county's life-line to the metro area receives a high state priority for improvements. 

• In partnership with other counties. rehabilitating and re-opening the Prairie Line Railroad.

• In conjunction with the regional technology and telecommunications initiative, undertaking a long-range plan for updating telecommunication services.

Energy

• Exploring the county's potential for the development of wind-generated electricity and other alternative energy development.

Renville County's southern border is the scenic Minnesota River Valley.  It is home to first class parks, horseback riding, snowmobile trails. four-wheeling, hunting, and numerous historic sites.  Renville County's next-door neighbor in the River Valley include two casino/entertainment complexes, historic Fort Ridgley State Park, and Upper Sioux Agency State Park, with its unique horse-rider's campground. 

All this is combined with rural and small town living that make Renville County a place that people enjoy living and raising a family.
